You might want to check out the Builds section of this site... also, you don't have to wait until April 15.... This coming March 18 is the next event, :P

I played a Ranger/Mesmer these past 2 events and had a lot of success... but that's just one of many possibilities.

Are you serious? THE 18TH! OMG YAY! Hahahahaa.... yeah that will be awesome! Anyway, yeah i was thinkin of casting stuff to weaken enemies over time while doing damage with the elementalist part. I am thinkin a Mesmer/Elementalist would be a great asset to a party.

But also... I am thinking now of a mesmer/ some melee class.... any ideas?

The only melee class is the warrior and Mes/War is good choice. Check out the in depth look at teh Illusionary Weaponry build on the front page. The IW build may be a bit difficult if you've never played GW before. I'd recommend a Warrior/Monk if you like melee or a Elementalist/monk if you like casting. Both of these are easy to use builds that should break you into GW easily.

Well, I was thinking, like you just said, a Mes/Warr. Cuz like, I can cast spells to wweaken them and start beating the crap out of them. So yeah. I would like somehting i would enjoy. SOmehting liek that. i guess i will try that. Not the easier route i like to try stuff and I am lazy but in games, its more fun if its challenging. so yeah. anyway, wait... isnt a Ranger melee too? Arent tehy like ranged/melee? anyway.. thanks for your help.

Rangers use bows for the most part although they (like all other classes) can go melee if they want to, but I wouldn't do muich melee without warrior as either secondary or primary class.

My reason for this is that without using the warrior mastery skills to boost your sword, axe, or hammer, you will be doing minimal damage (0-2). The only way around this is with Illusionary Weaponry(Mesmer) or adding a conjure enchantment to it from the Elementalist line.

[COLOR=Navy]i thought about running a domination/fire mesmer/elementalist
so hers a mesmer/elementalist build, although the fire is more for protection in melee.

Attributes:
Domination ??? 10 + 2 = 12
Inspiration ??? 8 + 1 = 9
Fast Casting ??? 8 + 2 = 10
Fire Magic ??? 10= 10

1. Backfire - For 10 seconds, whenever target foe casts a spell, that foe takes 22-116 damage. (15 ??? 3 - 20)
2. Diversion - The next time target foe uses a skill, that skill takes an additional 10-47 seconds to recharge (10 ??? 2 - 5)
3. Empathy - For 8-18 seconds, whenever target foe attacks, that foe takes 3-25 damage. (10 ??? 2 ??? 20)
4. Ether Feast - Target foe loses 5 energy. You are healed 8-24 for each point of energy lost. (5 ??? 2 - 8)
5. Lava Font - For 5 seconds, foes near this location are struck for 5-24 fire damage. (10 ??? 2 - 4)
6. Phoenix - A fiery phoenix rises at your location, striking nearby foes for 20-97 fire damage, and flies out to your target, exploding on impact. This explosion strikes for an additional 15-75 fire damage. (15 ??? 3 - 25)
7. Fireball - Fireball flies toward target foe and explodes on impact, striking for 20-94 fire damage in an area. (15 ??? 3 - 10)
8. Energy Drain - Steal 8-18 energy from target foe. This is an elite skill. (5 ??? 2 - 20)

basically u want to find a caster and lay in on him with backfire, id then use diversion, cause any skill the caster is willing to use with backfire going on would prob be one of his favs and most useful. after backfire wares of, teach him a new lesson by casting empathy on him. if u get picked on by a warrior u hve a full arsenal to take him down, including the great ether feast - a pretty good heal and u steal energy from the warrior soemthin they dont hve a lot of. next id hit him with lava font, followed by phenoix = 260 damage in 5 secs plus u can heal yourself with ether feast, i might say instead of fireball go flare for faster recharge. then u can spam flare on the guy until he dies, or runs which in that case u should finsih the guy off with flares. if u hve empathy recharged then u could aslo cast that makin the warrior take damage from all his attacks.

so theres a mesmer/elementalist build for you

Thanks Dovi, I kinda skimmed that. I will look more into youre post when I actually can play teh game. I can't wait for March 18th. It will be my first time! So yeah.... Yeah that was kinda what I was wanting. I was thinking that groups would like a mesmer for slowly "deterierating" the enemy plus I can cast like some spells to protect them and sometimes like be standing aside behind the melee people and be casting stuff to do damage. SO yes, thanks for your for you're build! When I start the game I will look at it. Maybe you could explain it more. It would be cool to play with you too.

On the otehr hand... I am also thinking a Mesmer/Warrior would be good. So I am not screwed totally if/when I get stuck in melee. It will mostly likely be a when. So yeah.... but I like playing these type of games in groups anyway so I always try to find people. So thank you to for your encouragement and support Whosa.

More feed back would be great iff you have ideas and help about my cahracter choice. I have never played so any information about my character and/or Guild Wars is greatly appreciated.

Edit:
I think I'll go make a poll for what class I will be. It will have two choices. Mesmer/Elementalist or Mesmer/Warrior.

Thumbs up

If you wanted a main stay character Mesmer is a good choice with Elemental. I am by choice a Necro/Mesmer, my character is focused support, that can get busy by going hand2hand. I can take life and cause pain. I have losts of fun and have seen very few use this combo. If you play as a team man you can get nasty with the bad guys in no time.

A Mesmer/Elementalist can do well in melee range as well. Some of the spells have point-blank area of effect(inferno, flame burst, crystal wave, frozen burst, etc), and having a Mesmer primary can help you cast these faster, before your enemy has a chance to move away from you. Other melee mesmer builds are things like Illusionary Weaponry mesmers, where you attack in melee and do some pretty hefty damage through Illusionary Weaponry- there's a couple builds based around this in the Builds section of the site.

Mesmer's can combo with most classes fairly well, though Ensign would probably strangle you if you go with a Mesmer/Necromancer.... I've used the combination quite well myself for some builds, but in general you'll want a damage-dealing class to complement the disruption that you get from the Mesmer skills. Elementalist, Ranger and Warrior can all provide nice means of damaging your enemy, while a Mesmer/Monk can do pretty good with fast-cast healing and resurrection.
